Here's to Another Two Years
The Shadow

Well it’s over in “Beer Town”. Once again the “Beer Party” ekes out a victory and thinks they have screwed the people that don’t hang out with them. In reality they have once again screwed them self and don’t even know it. A sane person would begin to question their sanity until they figure out that the “beer party” wants the town just the way it is even though they make believe they want it to improve. When you walked it to vote today there sat a representative from both bars and the husband of one of the regulars. There was such a chill I figure several people caught a cold.

The problem that will surface at sometime is that when you feel you are so powerful that you can rub the loser’s nose in it they will rise up against you in ways you can’t even think of!!

Remember the Queen that told them “to eat cake”? Progress comes even to remote places like Glendo whether you want it or not. It may take longer if you continue to fight it but progress always wins. Fighting against it will only put you further on the outside when it gets here.

So now we can get back to wasting town money on WAM trips, talking about fixing the sewers instead of doing it,  (while the cost goes up daily,) play at digging wells that may never work and hope the people will get behind the Capitol One project in order to cover up another bum choice by the Susan-led musketeers. The town people can dream of being able to go to a city council where their so-called representatives show up to conduct town business sober.

Keeping in mind that we are once again about to get the “shaft” from these fellow human beings we will be cranking up the fire under the new council. There was a time when what went on at the council meetings never made it to the attention of the common people. Well those days are over. From here on out it will be our main job to make sure the entire county knows what goes on. That may even have an effect on some one that hopes to run for state office and will need the votes of the entire county rather than just their posse!! One can only hope!!

ha ha Not sayin! I agree.  I won't go to Glendo Days either. (only the street dance)  I wish it was still down town and ran by whoever it was that ran it before, they did a good job.    A couple years ago these women didn't want anything to do with anyone and hid in their houses, now all the sudden they are trying to take over our town!(oh GOD don't let them take over our town)  Not only that but they are very rude and should do us all a favor and  go back into hiding.

Not Sayin:
I for one am glad a certain woman didn't get on Town council.  She is very unprofessional, and is one sided. That is the reason I won't go to Glendo Days too, because of the 2 women in charge of it.
Congrats to Bill and Suzane.

I didn't say the rat thing because that is what I think of the town...I am also sorry that almost half of the town is unhappy with what happened, but if you turn the statistics around over half the town would be upset if the table were turned. I think that the best thing to do is take the next two years in getting along and making Glendo the best it could be. Starting rumors about the bar changing it's name isn't going to help stop the seperation.
Enough said!

Just heard a rumor that one of the bars is changing it's
name to the "Council Bar"

There were winners and losers in kindergarten too ;0)
My only point is that the way the votes are distributed, you can't make a legitimate logical leap that the people of Glendo are all happy.
In fact, according to the numbers, half of the voters DID TRY to vote one or both of them out; the way the votes came out, proves that. Ergo, "the majority" are not necessarily "happy" as you contend. In fact, it looks like about half of them are NOT happy.
That's all.
It's a very interesting split.
And you're the only one saying that Glendo is a "sewer infested rat hole." The rest of us are just having a discussion.

Seriously there is always going to be a winner and a looser. Otherwise there would be no competition and we would all be back in kindergarten. My point was that if the town was truely upset then they would have voted differently the majority is happy and that shouldn't be blamed on Susan or Bill. If they were truely rubbing it in people's faces they would open their own blog and be saying things like NEINER NEINER NEINER...I don't see that happening. If those people are unhappy they whould rally more of the happy people to go to their side, hence where you get a split. People are always going to be unhappy and that feeling shouldn't be put on people that were voted into the seat.

Voting is a wonderful privilege.
If you look at the way the people of Glendo voted, some people are very happy and some are very unhappy, and others are maybe half happy and half unhappy.
The way the votes are split, with the winners being so close, about 50-some people may have voted for these winners, and they are happy.
The next two got almost as many votes, especially the third place person. The person who got 4th place was not far behind.
So, from that, you can deduce that either half the people who voted got all that they wished for, and a little less than half (or at least 41) didn't get at all what they wanted.
Unless you write off half the people of Glendo, "everyone" is definitley not totally pleased with the outcome!
If "everyone" got the people in they thought should be in, the top two winners would have gotten 107 votes each....they didn't...not at all.

To the wonderful people of Glendo,
Congratulations to the candidates that ran and to those that ran. When I pop onto this site and catch up on my reading I am glad that I no longer live in Glendo for the simple reason that if I did, I would live in a sewer infested rat hole...or that is what the shadow is making out my home town to look like. Shadow I see your concern, and I am glad that this site has given you a way to vent, but maybe it has fallen to deaf ears. If Susan and the rest of the members of the council are really running down the town, don't you think that the people of Glendo would vote them out? You yelling and screaming on a site just makes you look like you don't know what you are talking about, or that you are mad that more people aren't listening to you, for you to get the changes that you yourself want.
I was born and raised in Glendo and back in those days you could walk down the street and say hi to every house because at that time people had lived in the town forever...no one was a stranger. Times have changed now, when I return I hardly know anyone that does not mean that I should be valued more than the new people because I was born and raised there.
Point made I have to say that I am happy that you have this site and that you use it to the best of your ability, just think about all the things that you say on here, if you want new blood in Glendo that might side with you for you to get the things that you want done, done, you might not want to make it sound so bad!
Once again Congratulations to the winners! I look forward to seeing everyone next time I come back to town.

Glendo residents have spoken :
Whether the Shadow likes 'em or not, the majority of Glendo residents feel that Susan and Bill are the top candidates to fill these two seats on the Glendo Town Council. Don't you just LOVE the power of the vote?! Congratulations Susan and Bill - I'm sure you'll do your best to represent the Town of Glendo.

Gladys is not my real name:
Congratulations to everyone who ran. Glendo is lucky to have so many people who want to help our little community. Those who won deserved it, and will do well, and the other two who didn't win made a fine showing and we thank them for their energy and hope they'll stay involved. As for the Shadow, he has his place too. It's good to have a place like this on the Wheaterville News to air differences and bring up things that need to be talked about. And if some people can't stand the heat they should probably not read or contribute, but for the rest of us, we're happy to have the outlet and even the digs from the shadow to get us looking and talking.

Happy:
My first time on this site Shadow. I was told by a friend to get on and see what the shadow had to say. Now I will tell you what I think. I am very happy with the results of the election. Susan and Bill have both done a lot for this town. I don't know why you insist on bashing Susan and the council all the time. If I remember right our mayor, when he was running promised the town he would have us a new well up and running in 6 months time. That was two years ago. Not all his fault, this takes time and step by step. Its not done over night as our mayor has found out. But my point is, it is not the councils fault or Susans. I can't see how this site helps our town in any way. Really I think it makes you look like a fool or better yet a bunch of little kids that didn't get their way, to bad mouth everyone you personally don't like. I won't wast my time to get on it again.

LMAO:
Shadow, so now your dissing on the judges??? When will you stop? Why would you say that both women were representitives of the bars? One of the women divorced the bar owner and the bar quite awhile ago. And the husband of the regular is a very nice man that minds his own business.
Why do you ASSume everything about the council revolves around the bars. You need to stop and get out of the shadow your hiding in. Go outside and smell the flowers, take your blinders off. Again these are all just people voluntering their time to the town. This is a small town, and people hang out, in bars, cafes', lakes', gas stations, schools. What makes you think the council is out to screw people? And I doubt candidates were rubbing other candidates noses in it.

a question:
Do members of the Council really come in after having been drinking? Isn't there something in the bylaws about how that isn't allowed? There should be. And if it's not all the members of the council, you shouldn't make a blanket statement like that, tainting them all. Probably people will be watching, and smelling, from now on at those meetings.

Sour Grapes here!!

I did forget the most important thing in my rant.
I forgot to thank Paul and Dorothy for their effort and concern for the town! Thank you both!!
Hey Light. Did you think the losing side would tuck their tail in and go hide? When has that ever happened? If we were unhappy with the way things were run before why would we slack off now? Once the door of light is opened to focus on the actions of groups like the city council it never closes. Things used to be done under the cover of darkness but those days are now over!!
